[Avila] Compiling kernel 2.4.21

Hello all,

I need to get kernel version 2.4.21 compiled and running on my Avila 
2348-4 board.

I managed to build snapgear using the supplied source for 2.4.31, but 
when I exchange the "2.4.x" library with the content of the 2.4.21 
directory, the compilation fails.

I have a suspicion that the toolchain (I'm using the one supplied with 
the Avila, called arm-linux-tools-20031127.tar.bz2) is not compatible 
with this old kernel.

Has anyone successfully compiled snapgear with 2.4.21 kernel?
