Both. You can get it for free by sorting through all the patch sets for 
the various architectures in the nslu2-linux repository and spending 
time in the IRC channels.  You can get it for free in a couple months 
when it's all pushed upstream in the mainline kernel.

You can get it now as complete working good patch set for the GW2348 for 
$200 US, which includes 2 hours of consulting support from Giant 
Shoulder, Inc. 

The choice is yours.
