Hi Tim, David and all,
I didn't receive any answer...
Could you please indicate me a stable coupling of madwifi and hostapd for
testing?
Tim, you which are the fixes you are talking about, are they relevant to madwifi
or hostapd?

Thanks in advance
Gianluca

Oggetto: Re: [Avila] Hostapd + madwifi crash
      A: Avila <avila at lists.unixstudios.net>

I am using a Gateworks Avila GW2348-4 board,
equipped with 3 Winstron CM9 wireless card (mini-pci).
I am using madwifi-ng-r1931-20070112 and hostapd-0.5.7, with snapgear 3.3.0 as
distribution.

For the network configuration I use the following commands:

=============================================================
wlanconfig ath2 create wlandev wifi2 wlanmode ap
iwconfig ath2 essid test_handover
iwconfig ath2 channel 6
iwpriv ath2 mode 3
brctl addbr br0
brctl addif br0 eth0
brctl addif br0 ath2
brctl setfd br0 1
ifconfig ath2 0.0.0.0 up
ifconfig eth0 0.0.0.0 up
ifconfig br0 192.168.1.254 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
iwconfig ath2 txpower 17

echo 0 > /proc/sys/dev/wifi2/diversity
echo 1 > /proc/sys/dev/wifi2/txantenna
echo 1 > /proc/sys/dev/wifi2/rxantenna
======================================================

Note that ath2 and eth0 belong to the same bridge.
After the network configuration, I try to start hostapd (configured with
WPA-PSK and with the parameter bridge=br0); sometime the board crashes,
displaying the following dump:

------------------------------------------------------
# hostapd -B /etc/sysconfig/hostapd.conf
Configuration file: /etc/sysconfig/hostapd.conf
# Bad mode in data abort handler detected: mode IRQ_32
Internal error: Oops - bad mode: 0 [#1]
