David,
Gateworks only plans to use what is listed in the eeprom map file. Since
the 0.6 BSP, redboot has relied on the eeprom values to correctly
configure a board. We have added items since then to aid in ease of use.
CYGHWR_REDBOOT_FLASH_CONFIG_MEDIA_FLASH has nothing to do with what is
stored in the eeprom.
We strongly suggest that you not use the area from 0x100 - 0x140, as it
will be used by future platforms and more projects are beginning to use
these values also like OpenWrt, which just recently added the ability to
use one image on almost all of our products based on what is contained
in the eeprom.
