Which Debian?  Historic versions of hwclock (and perhaps even the
current stable) on Debian ARM have had various problems, such as
segfaulting.  I'm using the little endian EABI version on my board.  I
was using the now unsupported big endian Debian ARM, but I think that
had issues.
