I believe so. In my case I believe that some piece of hardware (PCI
connected radios perhaps) is left in a bad state and linux hangs as soon
as it hits this hardware. Perhaps it is even something lower level in
the ixp board. In any event, we found that our boards handled static
much better (clean reboots) with the ds1819 as a watchdog (and R11 enabled).
